This week, a hurricane is expected to make landfall near my hometown. While we were preparing our supplies, just in case, it got me thinking that it may be helpful to compile a list of shelf-stable keto foods to get through an emergency where the power goes out like a hurricane or an ice storm.
Canned Meats:
- Tuna
- Chicken
- Sardines
Nuts:
- Almonds
- Pecans
- Macadamia Nuts
- Walnuts
- Peanut butter
Snack Items:
- Dried sausages
- Beef jerky
- Pork rinds
- Cheese snacks (Whisps or Moon Cheese)
- Pickles
- Olives
Beverages:
- Instant coffee and MCT oil
- KetoChow and avocado oil
- Shelf-stable almond milk (can be used with protein powder for shakes. I use this.)
We will also make sure we have gas for our grill so that we can cook any meat that we have in the freezer if the power is out (we can also pop a cast iron pan on the grill and cook some eggs or bacon). We will also have plenty of water to stay hydrated.
Hopefully, the hurricane will turn away, but it is best to be prepared for the worst. Stay safe out there, y’all.
Carolina? North or South.
…I’m in Georgina, not quite out of the way myself.
Some good things on the list.
Thanks for the ideas
